Welcome
Stevie Tuszynski is currently an assistant professor in the Communication department at Bethany College. In May of 2006, she received her PhD from Bowling Green State University's American Culture Studies program. Her dissertation, Breaking Down The Binary Of Online Versus Offline Social Interaction was a case study of online social interaction that examined the boundaries between "real life" and virtual life. The dissertation grew out of her research of the online posting community The Bronze.
Related to this project is the feature documentary In Real Life, which looks at the social interaction that occurs in a computer-mediated environment and how it affects the participants in other areas of their lives. In particular, the film is about what happens when online relationships move off-line and become long-term.
